Young entrepreneur and gamer Tyler Blevins aka Ninja recently appeared on CNBC to speak on his recent success as a full time gamer/streamer. The young man from Michigan earns over $500,000 a month from his Twitch live streams and various other gaming endeavours. Tyler recently did a live stream with Drake, where the pair played the popular computer game Fortnite. The stream consequently got over 600,000 live viewers, setting a new record for a Twitch live stream. Tyler’s achievements highlight the new opportunities that live streams present for grassroots entrepreneurs. Having a live stream is like having your own TV network. Platforms like Snapchat, Facebook and Instagram allow anyone to host a live stream, and build an audience which can ultimately be monetised. Influencers/brands like Tyler, who have millions of people’s attention can profit from sponsorship and endorsement deals as a result of their network, just like a TV station.
